🚨Drama around Anthropic AI this weekend - What I personally think about it👀

The CEO of Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, on Saturday again called on the AI industry to "slow down" and presented a three-point plan to achieve this, saying his company would commit "unilaterally" to the first of these steps.

We've seen something similar before⤵️

👉 DeepSeek

👉 AI bubble concerns.

👉Capex concerns.

👉Export restrictions.

👉High valuations.

👉And now slower AI development.

The narrative keeps changing, but so far it hasn't particularly related to AI development. Hyperscalers are still spending hundreds of billions on GPUs, networks, energy, and data centers.

If I were to focus on the real risks I'll be watching, they are primarily oil, bond yields, geopolitics, and the FOMC (FED).

Before I change my thesis, however, I need to see real weakness in capital expenditures (capex), GPU orders, HBM demand, or data center spending. It doesn't look that way so far, so I personally don't think it should change the trajectory.

I see it on two levels. Building data centers doesn't have to slow down; this is mainly about cloud and demand from corporate customers for computing power so they can deploy AI into their own processes.

Then there are models and AI agents, whose latest versions probably outpace the ability to secure them. Those employees see something we don't, hence the concern that it could get out of control and start harming humanity, or at least causing damage.

I see it as a call to slow down so that security can keep pace, because model improvement is growing exponentially.

Of course, stirring up panic is also one of the proven strategies. It depends on each person which they lean toward more - a real threat or just panic.

This is just noise, these gentlemen are, firstly, unable to agree on anything because they have completely different interests and overly large egos. Secondly, China is getting involved, which cannot afford to slow down even for a single day due to the embargo on advanced lithography and chips. The only thing they might be more careful about is what they let out to the common plebs, so that this panic about a "non-zero chance" of human extinction doesn't arise.
